Wilfred’s work involves the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, as well as industrial designs. His work also involves patentability reviews and dealing with issues of infringement and validity. He advises on patent filing strategy and has helped clients build patent portfolios from the ground up. He also conducts due diligence reviews for patent portfolios. Wilfred’s practice includes servicing clients with technology related to mechanical structures including aerospace structures, manufacturing, control systems, data security and remote sensing via satellites. Prior to joining Blakes, Wilfred worked in the aerospace industry where he gained engineering experience related to landing gear, avionics for military aircraft and space robotics. He is also active in the commercial space industry and a director of the Canadian Space Commerce Association.
